Celebrating the life, leadership, and legacy of Ibraheem Basir.
"There’s an element of just joyfulness to building a community and being around like-minded people and to helping other people succeed in building their careers.”
- Ibraheem Basir, 2020
Project Potluck Visionary and Industry Leader
Project Potluck exists because of Ibraheem’s vision. As founder and Founding Board Chair, he brought generosity, conviction, and a deep belief that community is built when people actively open doors for one another.
Across the industry, he was known not only for building A Dozen Cousins into a beloved brand, but for how he showed up for others along the way. Founders, operators, and leaders often describe Ibraheem as someone who consistently showed up for others — offering encouragement, sharing perspective, and helping people feel like they belonged at the table.
In honor of Ibraheem’s life and leadership, Project Potluck is establishing the Ibraheem Basir Legacy Initiative to continue the work he believed in — opening doors for founders and strengthening community across the CPG industry. The Initaitive will support in-person gatherings, direct grants to founders, and the ongoing work of Project Potluck to sustain the kind of community-building that Ibraheem championed.
This effort will be guided by an advisory group of Ibraheem’s family, close colleagues and mentors from across the industry to ensure the work remains true to his spirit and values. We are grateful to be undertaking this effort with the support of Ibraheem’s family, who encouraged us to honor his life and legacy through Project Potluck. Additional details about the Initiative and opportunities to participate will be shared in the coming months.
If you were close with Ibraheem or would like to collaborate with us in honoring his legacy, please reach out to kathleen@potluckcpg.org. Out of respect for Ibraheem and his family, we ask that any public tributes, initiatives, or use of his name or likeness be coordinated with Project Potluck.
